Coalface by Lush

Hellooo lovelies!

As promised, here’s my review and impressions from one of the products from my November haul: Coalface by Lush

I think this soap would go into my ‘weird but wonderful’ products.

Before I go onto reviewing this, I would just like to tell you all that my skin type is oily and this review is based on my reaction to the product my lovelies so what does/doesn't work for me might not have the same effect on you. Just consider that if you did want to buy this.

I heard about Coalface on another blog and got onto the lush website and the reviews were really good! My skin has been (being totally honest), horrible *sigh*. I’ve broken out in a couple of big red spots (more like volcanoes!) that refuse to leave along with a million of tiny spots on my cheeks!!
I was really excited to use this because the reviews were so high, but first, I’ll start with the negatives.

Negative:

·         It dosen’t exactly have what I would call a pleasant smell and it’s quite strong. It has an earthy-ish smell with an underlying fragrance of medicine. Yes, that’s what it smells like. When the soap is dry, you can still smell it, but not as much.   (In fact, I could smell it in my bathroom when I went in there this morning). When it’s wet, I’m sorry to say, but it kind of stinks, although you do get used to it.

·         I don’t know if anyone else had this problem but my skin felt SO strange when I was washing the soap off.  You know usually when you wash your face, it feels nice and smooth and your hands can easily glide…Well my face literally felt like rubber. It was the most bizarre feeling.

Positive:

These are my first impressions of the product and I would definitely recommend it for oily/combo skin. I felt like it worked very well with my oily skin but I think it can dry out skin too much if you already have dry skin.

Also, if your skin is very sensitive, I wouldn't recommend it. My skin isn't VERY sensitive but it did hurt a little even with gentle exfoliation (however, i believe this is because my acne has been quite severe recently).

A little tip to make the bar last longer is to cut it into smaller pieces

From my impressions so far, I would definitely recommend Coalface
